Old Navy top, Forever 21 jeans (similar), Lulu Townsend heels (via DSW, only $29!), Bip & Bop necklace (c/o), ILY Couture bracelet (c/o), Target watch, China Glaze "Solar Flare" nail polish on my tips
Have you ever had someone say the phrase, "that's so YOU" and have it kinda bother you? Because what does that even mean anyways? I obviously hope I'm doing/wearing something that's in line with who I usually am and what I usually like, but what if you mean it in a negative way? Like what if what you're trying to say is, "that's so you to always wear such obnoxiously sparkly articles of clothing"? My mom always taught us to follow up a generic statement like that with something positive. For example, don't just exclaim, "You got your hair cut." Say, "You got a haircut and it looks so great on you!" (Or don't say anything if you don't have something nice to say :).
Anyways, the point of that wasn't to be a lesson in manners, but rather to say: of all the outfits I've worn on this blog, this is the one I would actually love to hear someone say, "That's so you" to me about. It's kind of my perfect outfit. A classic (but bright) top, my favorite jeans, glitter-tipped nails, and a pair of shoes that I literally don't want to stop looking at all day (that also happen to be incredibly comfortable. Wore these babies for 18 hours straight one day. Yup, you heard me).
A few more things about the shoes: I found these over Christmas break at DSW on sale for $10! I had already loved them when Zara had a very similar pair and to find them on sale for that much was like a dream come true (they're $29 in the link above which is still pretty awesome). Also, you can't tell from these pics, but the heels are black glitter. So there are 3 colors of glitter on these shoes. Some people might call these impractical, but I can assure you these are just about as basic as they get for my closet. I would wear these always if the weather allowed. K, I'm done talking about them. For now.

Such a stunning outfit! My favorite kind of "casual": jeans with a gorgeous top and a fantastic pair of heels! I'm trying very hard to stay away from that DSW link... there's something about that kind of heel, and glitter, that I can't say no to. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so YOU...and you look BEAUTIFUL: so sassy & chic!!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteAmazing shoes!
ReplyDeleteI recently posted a similar blog about the whole "That's so you!" thing. I always take it negatively too. Hahaha.

I have always HATED when people say ambiguous things like, "Oh you got a haircut!" or the one I get all the time "Your hair is SO long!" What does that mean? Is it bad long or good long? So glad that someone else realizes how annoying this is.
ReplyDeleteBut on a happier note, I love this outfit, you look effortlessly wonderful :)
At first I was like uh oh, I think I totally said, "this is so you," when we met to take photos that day, but then realized it was okay that I said that lol
ReplyDeleteLove these shoes and the fact that they were only $10 makes them the buy of 2013 for you so far. I mean, the 3 colors of glitter and they're comfy - I don't know what could be better!
Love the outfit!
