Mint and Vanilla

Blouse: Urban Outfitters, Mint Jeans: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Gold Ring: Forever 21 (similar), Earrings: Nordstrom (similar) Nail Polish: Play Date by Essie

If you have seen me anytime in the last week, there's a great chance I was wearing these pants. I just got them and want to wear them all the time. Kind of samesies for this shirt too. So consider that your warning for some serious outfit repeating that will probably be taking place.

Porcelain Hair Studio

Adorable front entrance and sweet owner Tracy!

Last week I got headed over to Porcelain Hair Studio, a new salon in Huntington Beach, to check out their great new space and try some of their services for myself (mani/pedi/blowdry).

I don't make it over to Huntington very much, but realized it is much closer to me in Newport than I thought it was. Their downtown area is so cute and Porcelain is right near all of the action. I loved the fun purple walls, pretty chandelier and incredible salon chairs.

I got my nails done by Carmen who was so fun and something I liked was that her station is portable. So if you're in a hurry and don't have time to get your hair done and then get a manicure, she'll move to you while you sit in the salon chair! Kinda makes you feel like a celeb (see pic below). Carmen offers regular and special manis and pedis as well as Gels and Shellac.

I also got a blowdry by Jenny and loved the amazing shampoo chairs as well as the products they use (Unite). Blowdrys are normally $40, but you can get them for $28 during "happy hour" which is 3-6pm Monday through Friday.

Porcelain also offers spray tans, waxing, haircuts, color, makeup and more. Here are a few pics from my visit:

If you live in Huntington or nearby, stop by to check out this cute new salon and make them feel welcome:)

Thank you for inviting me to your great salon ladies! Hope to see you again soon.

P.S. I am on my way to Portland early this morning for a wedding this weekend and am pretty dang excited to be back in my old stomping grounds. It'll be my first time back after 6 months away and I can't wait for friendship reunions, Little Big Burger visits, and a big dose of the lovely NW. Hope I get to see you if you're a P-towner!!!

Memorial Weekend

This weekend I...

Had a DIY party with some girls in which I started 2 two projects and haven't finished either. Hopefully results coming soon though.

Went to San Diego to visit brother and SIL.

Took in the views

Ate stuffed french toast. Yes, it was as good as it sounds.

Was so happy being with these two.

Lucked out with perfect weather

Celebrated Memorial Day in one of the most all-American places I know - Balboa :)

Got to go on a sailboat ride

Hung out with this cute girl

Dreamed about living here

Loved sailing with these two

Rode a Razor. Pretty sure it's been at least 15 years since the last time that happened.

Adored this backyard set up at my friends' place.

And the dark cloud in my weekend was that my parents had to put down this guy :( We had 12 long years of sweet memories with him, and I will miss this precious face so much. Sorry to end on such a sad note, but I did want to say thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family (especially my mom) or sent their condolences to me. It means a lot, and I know so many people understand the sadness of losing a beloved furry family member. So you will be missed Moby. And I love you Mom and Dad, can't wait to hug you this weekend.

K, now best part of your weekend - Go!

Big Scary Dreams

A couple of months ago Bob Goff came to our church to co-lead a Discover Your Dream discussion that was awesome. (If you haven't encountered Bob Goff in any form, make sure you find a way to hear him speak, follow him, read his books - he is amazing. Inspires you want to go out and change the world kind of amazing). Anyways, one of the questions we were left with to discuss at our tables was, "What is your big, scary dream?" I had several ideas and passions swirling around in my mind that I was ready to share, but I asked my friend Allison what her's was first. Her immediate response? "Abolish human slavery on the continent of Africa."

Whoa.

My first thought? "I want to dream that big." My dreams had something to do with counseling and healing marriages, speaking worth into young girls, fighting for purity and a few other similar ideas which is great, but her answer inspired me to really clarify my purpose and vision for my dreams, as well as allow myself to dream big. REALLY BIG.

So the following week I sat down with a fresh new journal and wrote out six pages worth of ideas, goals, reasons, and practical next steps so I could put words to my passions and direction to my vision. And ultimately I narrowed down what I believe I'm called to do into this BIG. SCARY. DREAM:

"I want to help dramatically reduce the divorce rate in America."

Does that idea feel crazy and improbable and totally daunting? Absolutely. But knowing that's what I'm always working towards gives me drive and focus and crazy motivation. With a heaping dose of humility knowing that I will never accomplish it all on my own.

So there. My big scary dream is out there and I would love, love, LOVE to know if you have one. I think there is something so exciting and encouraging about hearing what other peoples' visions are to change the world, or one world. If you have no idea what yours is, not to worry! But I promise it might be easier to figure out than you think. Use these two questions as criteria: 1. What's the thing that kind of makes your heart flip flop every time you think or hear about it, the thing that makes you feel most alive and fully who you are when you're doing it? And, 2. Does your dream totally scare you?

I would love to read a string of comments containing your big dreams. We need a world filled with people who are willing to dream big dreams. So please share if you're willing :)

Summer Shorts

Shirt: J. Crew, Shorts: Forever 21, Belt: Forever 21, Wedges: H&M (similar), Sunnies: Forever 21, Necklace (worn as a bracelet): Forever 21

Bright shorts make me happy. Bright shorts that feel like pajamas make me even happier. I dressed them up a little bit with this outfit but can't wait to wear them with simple tee's or tanks and sandals this summer.

It's kind of weird to me that we're not even in summer yet. It feels like it's been summer for awhile down here. Definitely not complaining. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't find myself getting a little excited about Christmas from time to time :) Just 7 more months...
