Holiday Sparkle Nails

I've been trying to come up with some different holiday-themed nails to share with you all, and this was one of my first ideas. Instead of doing the normal graduated glitter from the top or the bottom, I thought to do it from the corner, sort of like a sunburst of glitter on each nail (or a snowflake of glitter, or whatever you want to call it). The pictures here don't do it a ton of justice, but in real like it's shimmery and subtle and wintery and feels Christmas-y to me :) Here's how I did them:

I chose a shimmery white I have from Forever for the base. I wanted to use my Butter "West End Wonderland" for the glitter, but it's pretty opaque so it was hard to get that starburst effect. But I did start with that color, and then later added my favorite, Deborah Lippmann's "Boom Boom Pow."

I painted two coats of the shimmery white to start (over a base coat).

Then I put Butter's "West End Wonderland" in the left hand corner of every nail. And did the same to the right hand.

I then added Boom Boom Pow and painted diagonally from the corner to the middle of my nail, so the glitter was thicker in the corner, and thinner towards the middle.

So, you'll have to take my word that they look a little better in real life, but hopefully you can try it with your own colors and glitters and create your very own holiday nails!

What are your favorite colors and nail styles right now? I would love to know!

  2. This is so pretty and festive! I have been so into dark colors lately that I think it might feel fresh to lighten it up but still be wintery!

  3. I love the layered glitter, something I need to try!

  7. I tried on the Butter gold nail colour for the first time last week - and I fell in LOVE. I don't know if I can justify $12-14 on a nail colour though. In your opinion, is it worth the price?! It looks beautiful with the shimmery white base coat you used with the BOOM POW.
