Pearl Living

A couple of weeks ago when I was in Portland, I spent a good amount of time in the Pearl (a part of downtown Portland where I used to live a year ago) and it reminded me of all the things I missed about that place. I love being a beachy "island" dweller now, but deep down I think I will always be a city girl. Living in a downtown studio and working at a real estate agency selling condos in the Pearl, I grew especially fond of not only the area, but also of the design and decor of the modern downtown lofts.

One of my friends works with the incredible team at Garrison Hullinger Interior Design and I have always been a fan of their work. They have a classic, sophisticated, and contemporary look that I love. Thought I'd feature a project of theirs from the Pearl as I dream about what it would be like to have a gorgeously designed home one day.

One thing I love is the use of bold pops of color (see their post on color trends for 2012 here) and how they incorporate personal touches of the owner's taste and style into the house. For instance, they took an antique chair and added a faux finish in antique silver and re-upholstered it in coral (love). They also used Trina Turk fabric on the pillows per the owner's request. Incorporating fashion into interior design? Yup, love that too.

All pics via Garrison Hullinger and taken by Blackstone Edge Studios with specific pics for this project here.

Isn't it so pretty? See more of their work here and I'd love to hear some of the places you get your design inspiration from!

  1. Not a joke, my cousin used to own a loft / condo that looked just like this, probably in the same building! I was obsessed with it! Love the Pearl!
