Hi friends! Let's talk healthy stuff and liquid diets shall we?? Last week I did my first juice cleanse - the Nekter Cleanse - and wanted to share the details with you, especially after all the follow up questions I've been getting!
So I already loved Nekter Juice Bar, a local juice company that has smoothies, juices, acai bowls, and their popular cleanse. Then one of my friends who's a part owner of the company approached me and asked if I wanted to try the 3 day cleanse, which came at the perfect time for my body. I have recently realized that I might be starting to develop a slight dairy allergy (total tragedy for the girl who could eat cheese for every meal) and was just starting to feel icky after an inconsistent and unhealthy diet. So I jumped at the chance to press the "re-set" button on my body and flush my digestive system of toxins and any other yucky stuff that might be in there and causing me to feel blah.
I have seen lots of my friends doing different cleanses and honestly didn't do much research for finding one on my own because I loved the things I heard about Nekter's cleanse and the fact that it was a healthy and safe thing for my body. Here are some of my favorite facts about it:
- In 3 days worth of juices, you consume around 45 lbs of fruit and vegetables. That's more than most adults have in a year
- All produce used in the juices is 100% local and 100% natural
- Symptoms such as inflammation, constipation, fatigue, allergies, depression and IBS can all be caused from toxic buildup, which a cleanse can help remove
one of my favorites of the juices
My Experience:
I was actually pretty excited to start the cleanse and see how it would affect me. I was nervous that I would be starving for three days straight but that wasn't the case. You literally are constantly drinking throughout the three days and the juices do help to keep you filled up (it's 6 16oz juices a day for three days with nothing else). I had several moments of feeling fatigued or hungry (and maybe cranky if I'm being honest), but all in all it wasn't that hard. I just wouldn't recommend sitting with a group of your friends while they all eat pizza in front of you. Not the best. Also be prepared to pee many, many times in a day (sorry). One thing I started noticing right away was how it made my skin look. It seemed clearer and more vibrant than normal and I loved that. Though I continued to crave crappy food while I was doing the cleanse, right when I stopped, the cravings were gone. After cleaning out your system, there's something about having the first thing you put back in it be a cheeseburger that just doesn't sound that appetizing. You're advised to slowly start adding back in healthy food groups and it's not that hard to make healthier choices after you've finished this. My body felt great after the three days. All in all, I would definitely recommend the Nekter cleanse if you're looking for one to do, and here's the details on how you can get it:
You can order it here and then pick it up at one of their So Cal locations. They are working on implementing a nationwide shipping program so people anywhere can have it, so look for that to be rolled out in the next several months. Follow them on facebook or twitter for updates on when it might be available and I'll try and update you guys on that as well!
The three day cleanse is regularly $190 but is on sale right now for $150!
Let me know if you have any other questions about my experience, I'd be glad to answer them for you!
Have a wonderful day!
xoxo

Good to know! I've been thinking about trying it after Jeb told me about it so thanks for the review! It would be a good thing to do before after a vacation to drop so quick pounds and feel better after indulging.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Sara! I have been looking into a few cleanses, and this one sounds great! I might just have to make a trip up to Orange County! Take Care!

ReplyDeleteYay! I'm excited to read the review! I think I want to try it, I really really really need to reset my body. I'm glad you shared the having to frequently go to the bathroom bit, because I didn't think about that and will def want to wait for a week I'm not up in the office as much so I don't have to worry about constantly running to the bathroom. Do you know how long it will be 150 for?
ReplyDeleteHaha yeah unfortunately you have to prepared to be close to a bathroom for most of the day when you do it! I'm not sure how long it will be $150 for but I can check and let you know!
DeleteVery cool! I've been wanting to do a cleanse recently...(my body has been through a LOT the past 3 years...Africa/Married Life/Baby...lots of climate changes and hormones. phew). Definitely will look into this one! Thanks for being the guinea pig:-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. I've always wanted to do a cleanse but then find excuses not to. I might be trying one after this post!
ReplyDeleteAwesome tips!! Thank you for sharing. It's funny because I was actually looking to do a juice cleanse next week, and was leaning towards Kaeng Raeng, but this review totally swayed me. I'm going to start next Sunday. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog when I was looking into the Nektar cleanses! I am actually on day 2 of the 3 day cleanse right now. I absolutely love it. I feel fabulous. No hunger. No tiredness. I feel amazing. Have you done any subsequent cleanses after your first one?
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting - I purchased a 5-day Advanced Cleanse when the special ran on Gilt City. I figured no better time than a "sale" to try. My juices arrive next week and I am super excited. Happy to hear that you had a great experience sans watching the friend devour pizza in front of you.
ReplyDeleteCurious to know if you have since tried the cleanse again.
