Royal Wedding

Since my name (well Sarah to be technical) means "Princess" in Hebrew, I was pretty much destined to love all things princessy since birth. This wedding is no exception. I didn't stay up late to watch it (though if I didn't have to work today and had a group of girls who were willing to get dressed up, drink champagne and stay up all night with me I probably would have), but I did wake up bright and early to catch what footage I could and see all the pictures (and to work out - early Friday morning workouts are the best). I know it's everywhere, but I still wanted to bring you my favorite highlights, mostly of Kate's STUNNING dress. Enjoy...

I decided to channel my inner wedding guest and wear one of my fascinator-type headbands to work today

Now I'm drinking English Breakfast tea and feeling high on royal love.

Have a fancy day my lovely princesses.

Pieces of Glitter

This basically is an Easter weekend review, but still things that made me very happy :) I had a wonderful weekend at home like always, a good week, and am looking forward to a busy and fun weekend!

Goodbye TV, Hello Me

Via

There was a point in my life where I couldn't imagine life without DVR, much less life without TV. Well, when a friend needed his TV back after graciously letting me borrow it for several months in my new place, I was forced to face this dilemma. I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a slight twinge of anxiety at first (a new TV isn't exactly in my budget, or at least there are about 3 big things I want before a TV), but after wise words from friends and my mom and a little reflection time, I got kind of excited about not having a TV. My mind swirled with activities to fill my time in place of ridiculous Kardashian re-runs. And while there are things I miss about having a TV, especially since it can get a little quiet living alone, I'm having a lot of fun learning how to be my own best friend :) (Thanks Sarah).

Here are some of the things I plan on doing instead of watching TV:
  • Bought a book (Great Gatsby) and can't wait to spend nights snuggled on my couch reading
  • Bike Rides!
  • More time at the gym (because I'm a big Lakers fan, and the playoffs are sorta a big deal to me, I just plan my gym times around games. Which means I spend waaay more time at the gym than what I'm used to. Gotta love uphill walking on the treadmill for an hour!)
  • Spend more time focusing on my health coaching
  • Go places alone. Have you ever gone somewhere to eat by yourself? It's fun :)

Short Story

For most of my life I'm pretty sure I thought of shorts as just a casual bottom to wear when it was too hot for pants. Or as something you worked out in. Who knew that you could have so much fun with them and wear them in so many ways?! Now I want high-waisted shorts (inspired by this new blog obsession), fancy shorts, floral shorts, and even sparkly shorts. Between these fun looks and super comfy rompers, I'm ready to head out and change up my whole summer wardrobe.

Trend Crave: Oversized Clutch

I have been loving all the big clutches I've seen on my favorite blogs lately. At first I thought they might be inconvenient to carry, but nothing can be much worse than the 10lb purse I'm constantly toting around. Plus, it's always a feat to try and fit everything I need into one of my tiny clutches anyways. So here are some of my favorite bloggers sporting the trend and then some I'd love for myself:

Atlantic-Pacific

Cupcakes and Cashmere

The Concrete Catwalk

Snappy Casual

Easter Nails

One of my favorite things about blogging has been all the inspiration I gain from other people on a daily basis. As I went to paint my nails yesterday, without even really thinking about it, I realized I combined two different blog ideas to create my look...

Garance Dore
Plus

Mimi + Meg

Equals

Jazz and Punchy Pink by Essie
I just couldn't stop staring at my favorite neutral and neon colors side by side and knew that somehow I needed to figure out a way to get them on my nails. And I love them! Isn't blogging fun friends?

On a much happier note than nail polish, I want to wish you the most happy Easter. I am always filled with an other-worldly type of joy on this day. Nothing can compare to the amazing thing that Jesus did for us. Love love love it. And love you my wonderful blog readers, I am always humbled that anyone would even want to read my silly little thoughts on life :)

Pieces of Glitter

I've had quite the week! I've felt surprisingly happy (I honestly think it's partly from getting back into my workout routine at the gym), and I was able to chalk up another personal victory by leaving my car in the garage from Monday through Thursday and still do lots of fun things. Here are my pieces of glitter from this week:

Guava Kombucha. My equivalent of coffee since I don't handle caffeine well. I always feel amazing after one of these.

Sunshine + bright magenta toes + one of my favorite (and tallest) pair of shoes = big happiness.

Bought the Great Gatsby and am so excited to read it again. I don't remember anything about it except that I know I liked it.

Being invited to a mock dinner for Brix Tavern in the Pearl that opens tonight. It's a cool higher-end sports bar that will have TV's, a pool table, darts, and yummy comfort food. Also went to the pre-opening party on Thursday night as well. I love supporting local restaurants and am excited for the several that we have opening here soon in the Pearl.

New magazine week!

Panoramic sunset view from my balcony (maybe click on the picture to see it bigger, this turned out so small).

Going to a catering event at the Lan Su Garden (Portland Chinese Garden) with people from work. It was to showcase the venue and local caterers and it was actually my first time at the gardens! What a beautiful place. I love how you are in a quiet and peaceful garden yet still surrounded by the city. I will definitely be going back when the sun comes out. Oh and the food was amazing. Highlights: the mini BLT's from Art of Catering and the sweet potato donut holes and chocolate whiskey cupcakes from Devil's Food Catering (they were actually better than they sound if that's possible).

I'm off to Bend for the weekend to spend Easter with my parents! Today and this weekend I hope you grasp how much you are loved by Jesus, friends (it's a lot). See you next week. Muah.

SHOES

I've been getting a strong urge to go on a shoe shopping frenzy lately. The slightest glimpse of summery weather makes me want to throw all my boots in a box and not look at them for another 6 months and buy all new sandals, heels, and wedges. I satisfied this desire by limiting my shopping to online window browsing for now. I did find some really reasonably priced shoes though, so I might just have to treat myself...

Here are the (mostly) reasonable shoes I've been eying (I know some of these are VERY similar to one another, that's because this started as a Save or Splurge post so I was looking for look-alikes. Then I just decided to throw everything in together).

And here are the fun fantasy ones that I will just dream about for now.

In case you want to do some of your own online shoe shopping, here are are my favorite go-to sites:

For cheap, fun, knock-offs that you don't feel like spending half your paycheck on - Forever 21, Go Jane, Lulus.
For everything you need: Nordstrom, Piperlime, Endless (with free overnight or 2-day shipping and free returns)

Enjoy, my fabulous and fancy frolickers! xoxo

Motivation

The other week I met with my health/business coach for a little lunch meeting and one of the many helpful tips she gave me was telling me to come up with my "motivation picture." Something that I could put in my mind that would drive me to keep working every time I felt like quitting or being lazy. For a couple days I thought about what my motivation or inspiration picture might be, but no single thing jumped out at me. Instead I have LOTS of different things that are motivating me to grow my health coaching business (all besides being on a mission to get America healthy of course). So I created a whole inspiration board and hung it on the wall next to my computer (see above).

As I was thinking about what motivates me for other daunting tasks in life, I realized that they are mostly superficial haha. But if you get the same results in the end, does it really matter what you chose to get you there? Here are examples of how I am motivated to complete the less joyous, yet necessary tasks in life.

Taking my Vitamins. The main reason I take my vitamins - pre-natal multi (nope not pregnant), fish oil, biotin, and vitamin D - is for better hair and nails. So my hair can look like this:

Yeah right, I wish.

Drinking my Water. Prettier skin and to ward off cellulite. So my skin can look like this:

Working Out. I'd love to say that having a healthier heart and body are the reasons that drag my body out of bed at dark thirty to go do tons of lunges and walk uphill on a treadmill, but the truth is I just picture how I want my booty and legs to look in the bathing suit I just bought and that usually does the trick. So I can look like my leg role model:

Am I shallow for these things? Possibly, but hey, I'm still getting the same health results and this works way better for me :)

Unprocrastination Day

So like I said on Friday, I really didn't have that exciting of a weekend planned. But it ended up being a little bit better than expected, and a definite highlight was the Unprocrastination Day I planned for myself. I got the idea from my Real Simple magazine last month. It suggested you round up your most neglected tasks and knock them all out in one day, not allowing yourself to come home till it's all done. Kinda scary right? And awesome. I don't know what it is about certain tasks that I practically put off indefinitely, but there were a few that have been weighing on the back of my mind for awhile now. Here's what I vowed to complete:

  • Roll over my 401K from my old job to my new one
  • Take kitty to the vet
  • Get my car washed

Not that bad right? Well if you knew how long I've been putting these things off, you would first question how I am still functioning in society, and then understand what a relief it was to get these checked off my list. I'm not going to tell you, but just trust that I felt about 30 lbs lighter after this weekend. So I accomplished most everything I needed to, my kitty was a sweet and uncharacteristic angel at the vet (seriously I was so proud), I had a lovely dinner with Nicole at Noble Rot, and I apparently really enjoyed the moon this weekend. Picture proof:

Such an angel!
