Happy Monday lovely people! So as promised on Friday, I wanted to give you a little background on my current nail situation with step-by-step how to's. Well thanks to my friend Becca, I was alerted via pinterest about this super fun idea! When I first saw it I knew I had to try it.
So the basic idea is to use craft scissors to cut fun patterns onto tape, and then tape off your nails for unique manicures. Problem is, I think I got the wrong scissors. They were not sharp enough and nearly IMPOSSIBLE to cut the tape with. It was quite the scene. But I still had fun trying and got a few compliments along the way. So here are the steps I followed in case you wanted to try:
Gather your materials (polish, scissors, tape, top coat)
Paint the base coat first and fully let them dry! Then cut the pieces of tape to tape off your nail (sorry I didn't take pics of that part). Make sure there are no bubbles - that was another problem I ran into. Then paint the other color over the bottom part of the nail and onto the tape.
Wait a little while for that coat to dry then carefully remove the tape. Paint one final top coat over them and you're good to go!
I kinda like how they look blurry cuz you can't see all the imperfections ;) Maybe try clicking on these pics to see them bigger.
I think I will need a few more trials to get it right, and possibly new scissors, but I'm excited to experiment with a few different patterns. Make sure you check out the nail blog I got this idea from (Chloe's Nails) because she has some other really fun looks.
Hope that inspires you to try something new!
xoxo
Yay I'm glad you tried it! Try cutting some layers of tinfoil to sharpen the scissors a bit!
