So I should probably be embarrassed to share this with you guys, but I'm going to anyways. Long before I first discovered Cupcakes and Cashmere and the world of style blogging, I used to "document" my outfits for work for a of couple reasons. Number one, it helped me get creative and keep up a good "rotation" (a word my friend and I like to think we coined in high school - definition: the ability to interchange clothes with one another in order to keep you from repeating outfits). And number two, to use as a reference if I was struggling on a day and couldn't figure out what to wear (I would just look back at past outfits to give me inspiration). All photos were taken from my Mac Photo Booth (super high res obviously), mostly at my old place, and over the span of two different jobs - Nordstrom and then my current job. My roommates may have made fun of me, but I rather enjoyed this project and wish I kept with it at my new place! (I have no idea why I stopped). Anyways, here are some of my outfits over the past year or so...
Sometimes my phone conversations made it into the picture
Close-ups of nails and accessories were sometimes included.
This picture is possibly a little too glittery, even for me.
Lots of hands on hips poses
Taken yesterday! Yay for hair that's growing. Kinda.
Notice the bracelets...I'm improving :)
So if you're lacking in the outfit inspiration department, try doing this! You don't need a photographer, or a fancy camera. Just start trying on outfits and take pictures, and it might save you a few extra minutes when you're scrambling for a cute outfit in the mornings ;)

oh my god! you are so stylish and amazing! you were a fashion blogger and you didn't even know it! haha. i LOVE so many of those looks it's not even funny.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute post! I am currently doing a challenge where I cannot shop for 60 days and can only wear what I have already! I cleaned out my closet and tried on several outfits and took a quick picture so that on the days I cannot figure out what to wear, I can quickly look at those pics and remember! Thanks for sharing this! Now I don't feel funny thinking I am the only one that does that!:) Love all your pics/style!

I totally agree - documenting your own outfits is inspiring / forces you to put a little more thought and effort into your look!
ReplyDeleteYou are adorable! Thanks for the inspiration. As a newly SAH-ish mama, I need some help getting my creativity back in terms of my wardrobe.
