Basically I just keep a running list of items I know I need, such as basics, or things that I find myself looking for unsuccessfully in my closet on multiple occasions. Reason for doing this is that it keeps me on track when I'm lucky enough to have a gift certificate or some extra cash burning a hole in my pocket. Because if it were up to my eyes and heart, I think I would buy only sparkly cocktail dresses and unlimited amounts of accessories that are all ridiculously impractical. There have been many times where I have to return to this list in order to buy things that I know I will actually wear repeatedly and that will add to my working closet instead of just sparklify it (highly doubt that's a word, if not, I'm claiming I invented it, k cool).
Enter my example: my nude pumps from Nordstrom! (yes I decided to blog about them anyways). I have been saving up my Nordstrom Notes (I was up to 3!) and every time I went in to look for something, I never saw anything I liked. I think I was afraid to waste them on something silly I'd regret. So last week I was browsing the shoes because there are a million pairs I want right now, and I opened up my little note on my phone and realized basic nude pumps have been on there forever. So I tried on a Jessica Simpson pair I liked and the rest is history. While day one of walking in these 5 inch babies proved a little difficult, I am hoping I will woman up and get used to it so I can rock them a little more frequently.
Blazer, pants, bracelets - H&M. Top, necklace - Forever 21. Shoes - Jessica Simpson
Some other "needs" I have on there include a black leather jacket, plain t-shirt dress of some kind, white skinny jeans, white or colored blazer, and China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy (a nail polish I've wanted forever - maybe not a necessity, I know).
What fashion "rules" or tips do you follow when you head out for a day at the mall? I'd love to hear them!!

I need nude heels... i was looking for somthing not patent though... but these look amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteYou can always justify a nude heel, and those do not disappoint! I had my eye on those Jessica Simpson ones too before I bought mine, but they didn't have them in my size, boo for size 5!
ReplyDeleteLove these shoes! I have something similar from Kathy Jean but I sure do love Jessica Simpson shoes!
ReplyDeleteAlso, what a good idea! I sometimes find myself "needing" something but when I shop I seem to want to buy everything but what I need! Keeping a list is a great idea!!

These are fabulous and so versatile! I have some JS pumps that weren't all that comfortable and some shoe inserts worked wonders in making them more wearable.
