My Weekend

{Disclaimer: get ready for photo overload. Also, I know my blog title is a little off, it's a work in progress right now}

Here's a little recap of my weekend, with a bit of exciting news (for me) thrown in there:

Friday night started out wonderfully, I got to meet up with my two old roomies (it's been FOREVER since the three of us have been together) and have dinner at a place on my Portland Bucket List: Produce Row! Really cute restaurant and awesome happy hour (my glass of wine + pulled pork quesadilla was $10). The rest of the night after that wasn't so great, so I decided to turn things around myself by having a sleepover on my balcony. It was a warm night and a full moon so I gathered up my couch cushions, some blankets and my stuffed animal (yup) and slept under the stars and city lights! Not the most comfortable night's sleep of my life, but I'm still glad I did it :)

Then Saturday night I went to church downtown and it was such an amazing message. If anyone is looking for a sermon to podcast, do this one! (It's not up quite yet, but check back for the one on August 14th)

K so here's my exciting news:

I bought a new camera this weekend!!!

I have been wanting one forever (a fancier SLR, so an upgrade from my point-and-shoot or iPhone) and I finally went for it. The guy at Pro Photo Supply was super helpful, as was my photographer friend Elliott (thanks! and happy birthday!) and pointed me in the direction of a Panasonic as opposed to a Canon or Nikon. The reason for that was that it still did all the things I wanted it to, was a small size, and was the same price brand new (with a one year warranty) as the used Canon's or Nikon's. So I took the plunge! I played around with it all weekend and still have A LOT to learn, but for now, here are a few pics I took, including shots of my SUPER CLEAN apartment :)

So, so happy. This is something I have wanted forever. I'm looking forward to learning how to use it, and seeing the fun pictures I can come up with.
