Happy Monday glitteries! So recently it's been brought to my attention (by two males in my family) that I post a lot of pictures of food on my blog. I realized they are right. What is it about girls and food pictures?! I really do feel the need to always capture what I'm eating, and I love seeing when other people (girls) post food pics too! Guess we're just funny that way :) And boys, if the food bothers you, you don't have to look at them.
Back to my weekend: as the title clearly states, it wasn't the sunniest weekend we've ever had. Quite the opposite actually. And Saturday morning I got to play a kickball tournament in the lovely rain (still soo sore - pathetic). But I made the most out of it and actually had a pretty fabulous and cozy day on Sunday. Details are as follows:
Friday was gorgeous! Why couldn't you have stayed sunshine??
Watching the eating contest at the Williams St. Wolfdown event we went to Friday night (my friend Nicole helped put it on - great job missy!!). It was a fundraiser for OYC and I won a prize! $50 to Cassidy Jewelry on Hawthorne, I was so excited. I hear it's an adorable store so as soon as I get a chance to make it over there, I'll give you my review! And show you my loot of course :)
Noticed these words on this building walking home from church Saturday night. "Do unto others as you would they should do unto you." (Doesn't make a whole lot of sense grammatically to me). One of the reasons I love walking places instead of driving is that you see things you wouldn't normally catch! I thought it was interesting the Golden Rule was posted on an old building, and wondered why it was originally decided to be put there.
I know it's always been popular to quote the Golden Rule, but sometimes I feel the need to remind people of the importance of the Platinum Rule as well: "Do unto others as they want done unto them." This first really hit home for me when I read the book For Women Only (fabulous relationship book, highly recommend it, and it's counterpart, For Men Only, for all the guys out there). It made me realize that while, yes, we all want to be treated with the same basic principles in life - love, respect, kindness - it takes insight and understanding to go a step deeper and get to know people individually and what it is that makes them feel loved and special. Because we're not all the same! Thank God! Just my relationship advice for the day ;)
Sushi and steak bowls at Sansei Saturday night
Snuggle time with my baby while reading on Sunday morning. I'm sorry, but that face!!! Love her so much.
Brunch at the Original on Sunday. Steel cut oatmeal and my "grown-up" milkshake with espresso, vanilla ice cream, and Bailey's. Pretty yums.
Went to see the Winnie the Pooh movie! Cuz I'm a 5 year old at heart and that sweet little giggly voice of his never ceases to bring me extreme comfort and joy. I even brought (snuck) a lemon tea with honey in the theater in honor of Pooh and his hunny.
My best friend Shayda looking like a total knock-out!! She sent me this picture because she knew I would love the dress (duh, absolutely amazing!!) and I didn't tell her I was putting this on my blog but how could I resist with all that glittery goodness?! I knew you'd want to see as well :) You look gorgeous Shayds! Can't wait for our Monday morning phone call :)
Annnd last food picture of the weekend, my Little Big Burger and free fries they gave me on accident. I was a happy woman.
Now it's off to start a super busy week! Because I was challenged by a friend who did a sweet and random act of kindness this weekend, I'm going to do the same to you! (and me). If you do one for somebody, please let me know, I love hearing about stuff like that :)
