My New Favorite Thing

One of the main reasons I chose this apartment was because of the balcony and amazing view. I have always dreamed of having a view like this - of city skylines, and busy intersections, and people walking around below. However, when I moved here in November, it wasn't exactly prime time to spend hours in the freezing cold out there, watching the city in it's rainy and gray dreary-ness. It also prevented me from buying any patio furniture since I didn't see the need.
Well EIGHT MONTHS later, it has FINALLY begun to feel like summer so I knew I needed to act quickly and get myself an outdoor setup. Thanks to neighbors (the chairs), co-workers (the table), my mom (napkins and table settings) and myself (bright pink peonies), I now have a real patio! And I had no idea this is how happy it would make me. I have already spent hours out there this weekend: reading, having breakfast, brunch, dinner, wine and snacks with my neighbor, laying out, drinking my iced tea, just staring into the blue skies with my feet up. I am in heaven. It feels so surreal, like I am living in some vacation world but at my own home. All of the sacrifices I've made to pay for the ridiculously high rent finally seem worth it.

I love this place, and the Pearl. If the weather was always like this, I don't think I would ever leave. I can't wait to spend countless mornings and evenings on my new little haven, and hopefully invite lots of friends over to enjoy it with me!
I have had quite the marvelous solo staycation so far, but will go into more detail tomorrow. For now I just wanted to share my new love and wish you a most wonderful 4th of July filled with sparkly fireworks, friends, family, and freedom. xoxo
