Get Well Now

(Hi! So I actually wrote this a long time ago but never posted it cuz it's just so random! But when I felt a sore throat coming on yesterday and today, and have a big work event tomorrow night that I don't want to be sick for, I thought I would take my own advice, and pass it on to you as well!)

I honestly hardly EVER get sick. My friends and family get tired of me bragging about my "strong immune system" and I know I could just be blessed with a healthy body, but I truly think I'm able to turn a potential cold/flu around with a few simple tricks. So let me share!

Via

1. Stop eating sugar the minute you feel a little sick.
2. Drink as much water as you can.
3. Sleep as much as you can.
4. Take your vitamins all the time! Especially multi's and Vitamin C.
5. Drink Kombucha. I like Synergy brand and Townshend's Tea. I swear by these.
6. Order The Coldbuster smoothie from Jamba Juice.
7. Take Emergen-C

If you stick to those basics when you start to feel sicky, you will way up your chances at feeling better. But here's where my secret tricks and theories come in:

First of all, don't be a germaphobe! I swear all the people I know who don't like sharing their food or drinks and have to wash their hands a hundred times a day are the people who get sick all the time! I'm not saying I never wash my hands or anything, but I will admit to being the type of person who follows more of the 30 second rule than the 10 second rule. There are studies that explain why parents shouldn't use sanitizer on their babies all the time because it actually weakens their immune system. And I think there's definitely something to that. I don't freak out about a few extra germs here and there and once again, I never find myself having to take a sick day for the most part. (Non-negotiable hand washing would definitely be after using the bathroom or if you rub your eyes or bite your nails all the time).

Second, mentally fight it! I'm not some "Secret" believing, new-agey person, but I do really believe in the power of positive thinking! There have been times where I feel a cold coming on and I just tell myself, "no you will not get sick, not an option!" And I don't! I've also mentally resolved to believe that I'm someone who has a strong immune system and can fight whatever sickness comes my way (including talking myself out of throwing up cuz I don't do that) and guess what? My body now believes that too! Crazy how that works :)

I'm not saying I have some magical ability to fight sickness, and of course there are factors to getting sick that we can't always control, but I do truly believe in all these tricks. So next time you find yourself feeling yucky, try a few of these out and see if you can't beat it. I believe in you!
