I wish there was a way to count the number of times a day I either say out loud, or think in my head, "I can't wait for summer." Or when it's actually here, "I love summer." It is hands down my favorite season. By a land slide. Living in Portland has only intensified my love for sun and warmth as well. (This won't be my permanent residence, I can assure you of that). I could list reasons for days why summer is the best, but instead I would like to share with you my perfect seasons/weather calendar that I recently shared with my Dad. Here you go:
Summer: March - September. 75-80 degrees. Maybe a few random days of rain thrown in. But those are only allowed in March or April.
Fall: October - November. Brisk and sunny mornings (and by "brisk" I mean 50-60 degrees). A scarf and a light jacket would suffice. Moderate afternoons (65).
Winter: December - January. And by "winter" I mean in the 50's so that you can get in a couple months worth of wearing cute winter clothes - boots, scarves, coats, tights, layers. There can be some days of rain and clouds allowed (not to exceed a total of 4 weeks total), and one day of snow and that's on Christmas. Otherwise the sun is still mostly there, just a little chillier.
Spring: February. Spring is my least favorite season. So February can be the one month transition from 50s/60s to 70s and I guess more flowers and trees can bloom.
Perfection!!!
Find me this land and I will move there. Oh wait, I think I already know such a place where this type of heaven exists...
What's your favorite season? And does the weather affect where you choose to live?

I live in Southern California, so we keep spring and summer around all year ;) But I think that's also why i love winter so much and take all opportunities to go skiing.
ReplyDeletebut summer is also freedom! that's why its so comfortable :)

Summer summer summer all the way! When Oregon gets sunny, my life feels kind of perfect:-) I guess that's why I tolerate the other grey/rainy months. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow, that would be ideal. I feel like winter lasts here about 8 months of the year (exaggerating)-I would love your seasonal calendar.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for the visit. :)
first of all, i used to have that poster in my room as a kid (i was a little surfer girl LOL!).
ReplyDeletesecondly, i live in ohio. i feel like i live in the arctic circle lately, though! my perfect seasons are as such:
Winter: mostly in the 50s. I grew up in virginia, so this is generally how it was, but with a little snow here and there. i loved winter in VA!
Spring: wish it didnt exist. I hate spring because i have horrible allergies and i just suffer with puffy eyes for months!
Summer: well, i am the type who can't lay out unless it's 90+, but im moving to norway in july, so i must become accustomed to 70s and 80s. i think once i do it will be perfect!
Fall: MY FAV SEASON! i actually LOVE fall in ohio. it is cool (not like VA), brisk, smell of leaves and football in the air. i love it :-)
hope u have a great day!
My favorite is definitely summer - it's so beautiful and the clothes are comfortable and airy :) Loved your post.

ReplyDeleteI think we're soul mates - that's my perfect year too! I don't like it any hotter than 90 unless I'm at the beach and I don't like it any colder than 50 unless I'm inside by the fire all day! :)
