Why, Thank You!

Similar to most people I'm sure, I've come to realize that there are certain items I have that when worn, are almost guaranteed to get at least one compliment that day. One time I stopped to reflect on what a few of those items were and found it interesting that they are some of the least expensive things I own. Here they are:

I bought this top from Forever for my birthday a couple years ago. Probably less than $15. Definitely not the most amazing thing in my closet yet for some reason I get so many compliments it.

My gray boots from Target. Hands down the shoes I get the most compliments on. And I love seeing people's reactions when I tell them I got them from Target :) I doubt these are available still since I got them a couple years ago (sorry), but I have been eyeing these shoes from there that I saw on a girl, and if they are indeed the same shoes (would be quite a coincidence if both had a red zipper down the back) then they are WAY cuter in person than in this picture:

Kaden Tall Bucket Boots (only in grey online)

Fancy Love by Jessica Simpson

Fancy Love by Jessica Simpson. I get soooo many compliments when I wear this perfume, whether it's from my friends giving me a hug or the person across the counter at a store. And I only wear two sprays worth. My first bottle was a present from Miss Anna and the second was $25 for the big bottle plus lotion from Target - it was on sale (what would we do without that store?). Not on sale it's still cheap for perfume, smells delicious, and makes me and the people around me happy :)

Broadway Nails

Another shout-out to Anna, these gems were introduced to me by her and boy am I grateful. I used to pay $40 to get fake nails put on that would last for a few weeks then need to get filled, or totally mess up my nails for months afterwards. These things cost $6 and can be found at Target, or any drug store usually, and are AMAZING! So easy to do, last around a week (which is perfect because you can use them for an event, but then don't have to commit to them for too long), don't ruin your nails, and look so good. It honestly makes me laugh how many people ask where I get my nails done when I have these on. People don't believe me when I tell them they're $6 glue-on nails from the store. I have a box at home now just waiting for an excuse to be worn...

Just a few items that prove you don't have to spend a lot of money to get complimented. Not that other people's opinions are what matters, but who doesn't love a little affirmation now and then?

  2. Thanks so much Anna! I love your blog as well. I like to think that the verses in Proverbs 31 have something to say about being a woman of style, beauty, and thrify-ness :) v. 18 "makes sure her dealings are profitable," v. 22 "dresses in fine linen and purple gowns," and v. 24 "makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants." So a Godly wife (or woman in my case) should also be known for her ability to dress well, find good deals, and be crafty! I love that! And you definitely have those qualities as well :)
